No. 22 Men’s Soccer downs St. Andrews 1-0 in AAC semifinal
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 7, 2023) – The No. 22 Milligan University soccer team defeated St. Andrews 1-0 by virtue of a Santiago Corral header in the 58th minute in an Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Tournament semifinal at Anglin Field on Tuesday evening.

Milligan runs its unbeaten streak to 16 games as the Buffs rise to 15-2-3 on the season. St. Andrews concludes its campaign with a 10-6-2 record.
Despite the Buffs dominating possession in the first half and outshooting St. Andrews 5-0 over the opening 45 minutes, the game went to the halftime break scoreless.
Inaki Moreno sent a pass up the left sideline to Albert Montragull, who drove in towards the penalty area and flicked a cross into the penalty area where Corral redirected the ball into the lower-right corner of the goal for his 15th tally of the season.
Four minutes later, Elies Simo hit the crossbar with a header on a corner kick and Asa Kai Blake's follow-up header was stopped.
Jett Carter had a header at the right post sail just high of the crossbar in the 84th.
Adria Alles made a diving stop in the 89th minute to preserve the one-goal margin as the Buffs
In the eighth minute, James Bakou attacked to the St. Andrews end line and played a cross to Alex Panner who fired a shot past the Knights' keeper but had his attempt denied by a St. Andrews defender.
Clay Gallant put a close-range header on frame from the right post in the 31st minute denied at point-blank range by the St. Andrews keeper.
The Buffs outshot St. Andrews 11-4 (5-2 SOG) and recoded all seven corner kicks in the contest.
Milligan hosts the winner of Union and Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday at Anglin Field in the AAC championship game.
