KANSAS CITY, Mo. (October 31, 2023) – Milligan University graduate student Inaki Moreno has been selected as the NAIA Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the association announced on Tuesday.
Moreno capped one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Milligan men's soccer history with four goals and four assists in a pair of Buff victories as Milligan clinched the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season championship for the second-straight season and the third time in the last four years.
Moreno turned in a signature performance against No. 14 Union, assisting on Milligan's goal in the 82nd minute and putting the game out of reach with tally in the 88th. The Buffs dealt Union its first defeat of the season with a 3-0 victory.
In Milligan's conference-clinching win over Pikeville, Moreno dispatched three assists in the first half and found the back of the net three times in less than 10 minutes in the second half.
Moreno concludes the regular season with 14 goals and 29 assists. He leads the AAC and the NAIA in assists and ranks second in the nation in points. Moreno's 2023 single-season assists total ranks third all-time and is most for an NAIA player in the 21st century.
Moreno is the active career assists leader across all collegiate soccer with 56 career assists. He became the Buffs' all-time assists and points leader this season.
Milligan has collected national weekly offensive honors for the second time in the last three weeks as graduate forward Santiago Corral received the honor two weeks ago.
The Buffs host Reinhardt in an AAC Tournament quarterfinal on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m.
