Men’s Soccer rolls to 6-0 win over St. Andrews

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (October 2, 2023) – The Milligan University men's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over St. Andrews on Monday evening at Anglin Field.

The Buffs move to 9-2-1 on the year and are now tied with Tennessee Wesleyan for first place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) standings with a 6-0-1 conference mark. St. Andrews fall to 3-3-2, 2-2-2 AAC.

The Buffs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the game's second minute with Albert Montragull setting up Boikaego Mbaakanyi for his fourth goal of the season.

Jett Carter attacked the 18-yard box from the right side with the dribble, drew several defenders to himself and dropped a pass to Inaki Moreno who cashed a long-range attempt to give Milligan a 2-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Santiago Corral scored with one second left in the half to push Milligan's halftime lead to 3-0.

Carter hit the post in the 60th minute. Corral had a one-on-one attempt with the Knights keeper sail left in the 73rd minute.

Alex Panner scored twice in a one-minute span as he collected a rebounded shot, dodged a defender and beat the keeper to make it 4-0. Almost immediately after the ensuing kickoff, the Buffs put pressure on the St. Andrews back line and Panner took an errant pass and fired in his fourth goal of the season.

Panner connected with Moreno in the 88th minute to bring the margin to the final score of 6-0.

The Buffs outshot St. Andrews 10-4 (9-2 SOG) and had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Milligan travels to Reinhardt on Saturday.
