MILLIGAN, Tenn. (September 21, 2022) – The Milligan University men's soccer team defeated Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) opponent Kentucky Christian by a score of 10-0 on Wednesday evening at Anglin Field.
The Buffs climb to 2-2-3 (2-1-1 AAC) following the win over KCU as the Knights fall to 1-2-1 (1-2 AAC) on the year.
The first half saw plenty of offense for Milligan as seven different players found the back of the net through the first 45 minutes of play. Greg Anderson was first to score for the Buffs as he knocked in a nice shot coming off an assist from Edward Burgos in the seventh minute. The next goal came off the feet of Luke Bennett in the nineteenth minute to make it a 2-0 game. Seven minutes later, Asa Blake joined the fun with two goals in a span of three minutes as the Buffs extended their lead to four.
Ethan Hayes put Milligan up 5-0 with a goal in the 34th minute coming off an assist from Bennett. Shortly afterwards, Ethan Bishop got on the board with his first goal of the season in the 35th minute to give the Buffs a six point lead. Jett Carter scored the Buffs' seventh and final goal of the first half in the 42nd minute coming off a dish from Inaki Moreno, who made his first appearance of the year after a knee injury ended his 2021 season prematurely.
The first score of the second half came in the 64th minute on a fantastic header from Henry McMurphy after a perfect cross from Burgos set him up for the goal. Hayes scored his second goal of the night off a header in the 72nd minute after a pass from Moreno sailed over the heads of the KCU defenders and into the box from around 30 yards out. Two minutes later, Moreno put the Buffs up by double-digits as he scored on a corner kick that snuck by the hands of the out-stretched goalkeeper.
