No. 15 Men’s Soccer caps off 15-2 regular season with 4-0 road win at Johnson (Tenn.)
KNOXVILLE, TENN. (October 30, 2021) — The Milligan University men’s soccer team defeated Johnson (Tenn.) University on the road Saturday afternoon 4-0 in the Buffs’ regular season finale.

With the win, the Buffs move to 15-2 on the year and 11-2 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. while Johnson falls to 5-11 (2-11 AAC) with the loss.
The No. 15-ranked Buffs extend their winning streak to six games behind a strong performance on both ends of the field.
Milligan outshot Johnson 27-4 for the match with an 11-1 advantage in shots-on-goal. Goalkeeper Jan Kuepper came away with an easy save on the Royal's only attempt.
Castel kicked off the scoring for the Buffs in the 16th minute as he split three defenders after receiving a pass from Alex Frances and fired a shot off the left post and into the net.
Milligan's second goal in the first half came from defenseman Raphael Sefriou in the 41st minute of the match following a corner kick. After Sefriou served a corner into the box, the ball returned to the right sideline where he fired a cross toward the far post that bounced into the goal.
For the match, the Buffs attempted 13 corner kicks compared to just one for Johnson. Six of the 13 came in the first half for Milligan.
In the second half, Ethan Bishop booted the ball ahead to Castel in the 64th minute, who again maneuvered between multiple defenders and the goalkeeper and poked in his second goal of the day.
Jett Carter fired in a shot into the lower left corner of goal for Milligan's final tally of the day in the 71st minute. Carter finished the regular season with a team-high 14 goals in 17 games.
The shutout marks Kuepper's fifth shutout in a row as he extended his total to 11 for the season in the final match.
In 17 regular season games this fall, the Buffs outscored opponents 74-9. Milligan set single-season goals and shutouts records in 2021. With 15 wins, the Buffs enter postseason play as the second-winningest team in program history, only behind the 2006 squad that finished 18-7.
Milligan has secured the No. 2 seed in the AAC tournament and will host an AAC quarterfinal next Friday at Anglin Field.
