MILLIGAN, Tenn. (April 5, 2021) – For the sixth time this season, the No. 25 Milligan University men's soccer team has swept Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the week honors. Charlie Betts and Andre Levarity were instrumental parts of the Buffaloes' 4-2 semifinal win over St. Andrews University in the only match of last week.
The AAC league office made the announcement Monday afternoon for the week of March 29 – April 4.
In addition to sweeping the award for the sixth time this season, this marks the fifth time in the last seven weeks Milligan swept the honor. Betts won for the second time in his career following week 13, when he and Elies Sebbouh won. Levarity won for the first time in his career.
Betts, the offensive player of the week, scored two goals in the Buffs' 4-2 win last week, both of which put his team ahead. His second goal, the eventual winner, came in the 82nd minute after the Knights had stormed back to tie the game.
Levarity, the defensive player of the week, led Milligan's defensive effort by helping hold St. Andrews to only four shots on target, and he provided the assist of Betts' game winning goal.
Milligan faces its biggest challenge of the season so far with the AAC tournament title game set to take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Reinhardt. The top-seeded Buffs will host the game on Anglin Field and will look to repeat their victory over the Eagles from the regular season. Albert Montragull scored the game winning goal in the final five seconds of that game to send Milligan to a 1-0 win.
