MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Nov. 23, 2020) – Following Saturday's exciting win for the Milligan University men's soccer team, Albert Montragull and Jan Kuepper have been named Appalachian Athletic Conference players of the week. The two were instrumental parts of Milligan knocking off AAC leader Reinhardt with a last-second finish in the only game of the week.
This marked Montragull's first AAC weekly nod while Kuepper won for the fourth time in his career and third time this season. Additionally, Milligan now has won seven of the 20 AAC weekly honors this season, including sweeping the award three times. Kuepper and Inaki Moreno were last week's winners, making it back-to-back weeks Milligan swept the awards.
Montragull's goal came with four seconds to go in regulation to lift Milligan to a 1-0 upset of previously undefeated Reinhardt (9-1). It followed a corner kick from Moreno as Montragull scored from close range for the second goal of his career.
Kuepper recorded his fourth shutout of the season in keeping Reinhardt scoreless with three saves. Nearly all of the Eagle's scoring chances he faced were in a scoreless game.
The Buffs have wrapped up the fall slate, but the regular season is far from over. Next up will be two regular season games scheduled to take place in the spring, followed by the AAC postseason tournament. Victories in each of Milligan's final two regular-season games would secure the Buffs their first AAC title since winning it back-to-back in 2011 and 2012.
