MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Nov. 16, 2020) – Milligan University's Inaki Moreno and Jan Kuepper have been named Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer players of the week for the week ending Nov. 15, announced the AAC Monday afternoon.
Moreno won the award for the first time in his career. Kuepper won for the third time in his career and second time this season. This also marked the second time this season Milligan swept the award as both the offensive and defensive players of the week for men's soccer.
Moreno scored two goals and assisted two others in Milligan's 6-0 blanking of Montreat. The Buffs had not played a match in close to a month but came out of the gates as hot as ever, scoring in the first seven minutes on a Moreno corner kick that found the head of Victor Castel. Moreno followed with two more goals over the next 20 minutes to pad Milligan's lead to 3-0 by the half. He added one more assist in the second half to round out his tallies.
The goals were the first two of the season for Moreno, who leads the team and the conference in assists with six. Moreno also ranks No. 14 in the NAIA in total assists.
While Moreno helped provide the Buffs with much of their offense, Kuepper helped keep the Cavaliers scoreless for the Buffs' fourth shutout in six games this season. Kuepper made three saves as Milligan improved to 6-1.
Up next, the Buffs host Reinhardt on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m. in the penultimate game of their regular season. The Buffs will then finish the regular season at Tennessee Wesleyan (Nov. 25) before turning their attention to the AAC postseason tournament, which has been moved to the spring.
