Buffs stay perfect after blanking Truett McConnell
A couple of late goals propelled the Milligan University men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Truett McConnell Saturday night on the road. Albert Montragull scored in the 66th minute before Odin Solheim followed with a goal in the 86th minute to help Milligan pick up its fifth straight win to start the season.

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 17, 2020) – A couple of late goals propelled the Milligan University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Truett McConnell Saturday night on the road. Albert Montragull scored in the 66th minute before Odin Solheim followed with a goal in the 86th minute to help Milligan pick up its fifth straight win to start the season.
With the win, Milligan maintained its share of the lead in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, tied with Tennessee Wesleyan who also stands at 5-0.
Montragull and Solheim became the eighth and ninth goal scorers this season for the Buffs, who have now scored 17 goals through five games. Milligan also improved it goal differential to 17-3 this season.
Inaki Moreno earned the assist on the first goal for his team-leading fourth assist of the season. Alex Frances registered his second assist of the season after assisting Solheim on the second goal.
Milligan dominated the possession and had nearly all the chances. The Buffs outshot Truett 37-3, including 16-1 on shots on goal. They also had an 18-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Up next, Milligan heads to Laurinburg, North Carolina, for an AAC matchup at St. Andrews on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The Buffs will be home again on Wednesday, Oct. 28, against Montreat.
