MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Sept. 21, 2020) – Jan Kuepper and Victor Castel have been named Appalachian Athletic Conference men's soccer players of the week after leading the Milligan University men's soccer team to a 3-1 season-opening victory during the first week of the season. The AAC office made the announcement Monday afternoon for the week ending Sept. 20.
Kuepper won the award for the second time in his Milligan career while Castel, a freshman, won for the first time in his career.
Kuepper posted four saves alongside only one goal allowed in the team's 3-1 road victory at Bryan last week. He made a few saves and key defensive plays that helped Milligan maintain its lead throughout the majority of the match, a lead Castel gave the Buffs just 50 seconds in.
Castel's goal, the first of his collegiate debut, put the Buffs into a lead they would not relinquish, and he added another goal 60 minutes later to cap his scoring.
Kuepper, Castel and the Buffs will next be back in action Wednesday, Sept. 30, at home against Kentucky Christian University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
