Men’s soccer prepped for 2020 campaign
The Milligan University men’s soccer team enters the 2020 season ranked No. 6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll and will look to continue its recent trend of success, which includes 13 wins over the last two seasons. The Buffs have 10 matches on the regular-season schedule this year, starting with a trip to Bryan on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

(Sept. 15, 2020) – The Milligan University men's soccer team enters the 2020 season ranked No. 6 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll and will look to continue its recent trend of success, which includes 13 wins over the last two seasons. The Buffs have 10 matches on the regular-season schedule this year, starting with a trip to Bryan on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
On the schedule
The Buffs start the 2020 campaign with Bryan before a stretch of three straight home matches. These matches will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 10, and then the Buffs hit the road again for three straight road tilts. Milligan is set to close the season with a home match against CIU on Saturday, Nov. 7.
In all, the Buffs host five matches on Anglin Field. This includes three Saturday matches and two midweek matches.
On the roster
The Buffs lost their leading goal scorer in Roberto Fernandez Garrido, who, in fact, became an All-American as the nation's leading goal scorer, but return a handful of players who have helped Milligan's recent trend of success over the last two seasons. Inaki Moreno (four) and Robell Habte (three) both scored multiple times last season, while Moreno (six) and five others return after being credited with multiple assists last season. Moreno ranked second on the team with 14 points in 17 matches.
On the defensive end of the field, Milligan returns goalkeeper Jan Kuepper who tallied 40 saves and three shutouts last season.
