GRAYSON, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2019) – Multiple goals from Roberto Fernandez Garrido and Jack Pearson led the Milligan College men's soccer team to a big win, 10-1, at Kentucky Christian University Wednesday evening on the road.
The win matched Milligan's highest margin of victory of the season, as the Buffs also tallied a nine-goal winning advantage against Midway University in the regular-season opener. The 10-goal scoring output marked the first time Milligan tallied 10 scores in a single match since the 2005 season when the Buffs beat Pikeville 13-0.
Garrido records fourth hat trick of season in Buffs' big win
Garrido jumped back into the No. 1 spot for scoring among Appalachian Athletic Conference players with the most goals in one match of his career. He scored five of them, including the first three and four in the first half to help Milligan build a 6-1 lead at the break.
Garrido, who entered Wednesday's game ranked No. 5 in the NAIA in both total goals and goals per game, tallied his fourth hat trick and sixth multigoal match of the season. It helped Milligan move to .500 in the AAC at 6-9 (5-5 AAC).
In addition to Garrido's four goals in the first half, Odin Solheim scored one and Pearson scored another. In the second half, Garrido, Pearson, Harry Griffin and Robell Habte put the match well out of reach. Daniel Pinkney registered two assists on the night.
