MONTREAT, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2019) – The Milligan College men's soccer team lost another close Appalachian Athletic Conference match Saturday on the road. Inaki Moreno scored an equalizer midway through the first half, but Montreat came out on top, 4-1, thanks to three goals in the final 17 minutes.
Milligan and Montreat looked poised for overtime, where the Buffs have been twice already this season, but a goal in the 74th minute decided the Buffs' fate. Montreat then tacked on two more consolation goals back to back in the 85th minute to pull away.
Moreno's goal, his third of the season, was assisted by Joel Dominguez's team-leading fourth assist of the season. It was one of the Buffs' 12 shots of the night, and one of their 10 shots on target. Roberto Fernandez Garrido paced Milligan in those categories with four shots, three on target.
Defensively, goalkeeper Jan Kuepper made two saves compared to Montreat's Jesus Ramos who made eight saves.
Up next, Milligan returns to Anglin Field to face AAC foe Tennessee Wesleyan University Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. It will start a three-game home stretch.
