MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2019) – The Milligan College men's soccer team faced Cumberland University Tuesday at Anglin Field and lost 2-1.
First half recap
It was a scoreless first half as both teams battled it out to get on the board. Milligan had 11 shot attempts in the first half and the Phoenix of Cumberland University had four. Roberto Fernandez Garrido had four of the 11 shot attempts in the first half. Garrido had the most shots on goal on the night with four.
Second half recap
The Phoenix came out hot in the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute by Robin Windvogel to open the game up. Then in the 72nd minute Garrido was fouled by the Cumberland goalie in the box to allow him a penalty kick. Garrido scored and tied the game back up at 1-1. However, the Phoenix scored another goal six minutes later to regain the lead which they ended up keeping for the remainder of the game.
Milligan outshot Cumberland 15-14. Milligan goalkeeper Jan Kuepper had four saves on the night.
