RICHMOND, Ky. — On Monday and Tuesday, the Milligan University men's golf team played in the Gibson Bay Match Play event, hosted by Lindsey Wilson College. In a tough field of competitors, the Buffs went 1-2 in head-to-head team competition over the course of the event.

In round one, Milligan went up against No. 17-ranked Truett McConnell and fell 3.5-1.5. Gustaf Lundberg tied in his battle, while Francisco de Bethencourt earned a triumph.

Then, the Buffaloes got their win for the event, beating Georgetown (Ky.) 4-1. Manuel Gutierrez, de Bethencourt, Lundberg and Garrison Barton all picked up victories over their competitors from the Tigers.

In the final round of the event, the Buffs faced off with Cumberlands (Ky.), who are receiving votes in the NAIA Preseason Poll. It was de Bethencourt who earned a victory in his matchup, but the Buffaloes dropped the tilt 4-1.

With the conclusion of the fall season quickly approaching, the Buffs look ahead to the AAC Fall Championships in two weeks at Barnsley Resort and Golf Club in Adairsville, Ga. on Oct. 28-29.
