Men’s Golf places fourth at AAC Fall Preview
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (October 17, 2023) – The Milligan University men’s golf team finished fourth of 15 teams at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Championship Preview on Tuesday at The Windermere Club.
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (October 17, 2023) – The Milligan University men's golf team finished fourth of 15 teams at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Fall Championship Preview on Tuesday at The Windermere Club.
The Buffs finished third among AAC teams at the event as No. 16 Truett McConnell took home the tournament title with a three-round total of (+13) 865 strokes. Milligan finished fourth with a 54-hole total of 904 strokes, one stroke behind third-place SCAD Atlanta. The Buffs finished two strokes ahead of No. 22 Reinhardt.
Ty Beasley led a trio of Buffs inside the top-15 in the 86-man field. Beasley tied for eighth at 222 strokes. After a rocky start to the third round that saw him four strokes over par through four holes, he went one-under the rest of the way to post a 74.
Gustaf Lundberg shot Milligan's top round of the tournament with a one-under 70 in Monday's second round. He finished tied for 14th with 225 strokes. Francisco de Bethencourt also tied for 14th and led the Buffs with nine birdies at the tournament.
Seth Bible factored into all three rounds of team scoring for the Buffs. He shot 77 or 78 in all three rounds to finish tied for 37th.
The NAIA Direct Qualifier/AAC Spring Championship will be held at The Windermere Club in April.
The Buffs close their fall season at the Bojangles Fall Classic this weekend.
