Men’s Golf takes second at East Tennessee Collegiate
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 26, 2023) – The Milligan University men’s golf team earned a runner-up finish at the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Tuesday.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 26, 2023) – The Milligan University men's golf team earned a runner-up finish at the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Tuesday.
The Buffs continued their solid start to the 2023-24 season with an even-par 288 on Monday. The Buffs were two strokes over par on Tuesday to finish at (+2) 578, nine strokes behind tournament champion Roane State. Milligan finished ahead of Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) rivals Pikeville, Montreat, Bluefield, Union and Bryan in the team standings.
Ty Beasley and Gustaf Lundberg both earned all-tournament honors as both players finished at even-par. Beasley shot 71-73 as Lundberg carded a 72 in each round.
Francisco de Bethencourt was one of the biggest movers on Tuesday as he used a two-under 70 to finish ninth at 145 strokes.
Jakob Modig led the Buffs on Monday with a minus-two 70 and finished 11th at 146 strokes.
Hugo Lundberg and Seth Bible tied for 22nd at 153 strokes.
Milligan led the tournament field in pars (105) and was second in bridies (34) as a team.
The Buffs return to action next week at the Bob Dibble Intercollegiate at the Link Hills Country Club.
