Men’s Golf finishes fourth at Skyhawk Spring Invitational

NEWNAN, Ga. (March 7, 2023) – The Milligan University men's golf team opened its spring slate with a fourth-place finish at the Skyhawk Spring Invitational at the Newnan Country Club.

The eight-team 54-hole tournament featured four ranked teams and another squad receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches' poll. The Buffs finished ahead of No. 25 Point and No. 8 Cumberlands.

After a challenging first round with 313 strokes, the Buffs bounced back with consecutive rounds of 299 to finish at 911 strokes. Milligan finished nine strokes back of No. 7 South Carolina Beaufort.

Jonathan Liggett led the Buffs with a three-round score of 224 to tie for 10th overall. After opening with a 77, Liggett steadily climbed the leaderboard with rounds of 73 and 74 to notch a top-10 finish. Liggett tied for fourth among the 55-player field with 11 birdies.

Ty Beasley tied for 14th at 226 strokes (76-75-75). He tied for fourth in the tournament field with 37 pars.

Gustaf Lundberg and Samuel Prater tied for 30th with 235 strokes. Both players posted a 75 as their best round.

Brandon Hammond turned in the Buffs' top round on Monday with an even-par 72 that featured five birdies.

Milligan men's golf returns to action in two weeks at the Miami Beach Invitational in Florida.
