Men’s Golf ranked 59th in final Golfstat fall rankings

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (November 29, 2022) – The Milligan University men's golf team ranks 59th of 172 NAIA men's golf teams in the final fall Golfstat rankings.
The Buffs competed in five events over the course of September and October and finished seventh among 11 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) teams at the AAC Fall Championship Preview on Oct. 17-18.
Milligan won the East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club on Sept. 26-27. The Buffs topped the 12-team field with a plus-two 36-hole total of 578. The Buffs tied a program record with a nine-under 279 at the Coastal Georgia Fall Men's Invitational. Milligan also set its 54-hole team record at 871 strokes at Coastal Georgia. At the Eagle Match Play Invitational, the Buffs recorded a head-to-head win over Brewton-Parker to reach the consolation bracket final.
Senior Jonathan Liggett led Milligan with a 74.9 average over 13 tournament rounds. He notched four round at even-par or better with a minus-five 67 in the final round of the Coastal Georgia Fall Men's Invitational. Liggett ranks in the top 10 in scoring against par among AAC individuals.
Sophomore Gustaf Lundberg finished the fall with a 75.9 average with three rounds under par. He fired a four-under 68 in the first round of the East Tennessee Collegiate and made the all-tournament team. He ranks No. 14 in scoring average among AAC golfers. Senior Samuel Prater is the No. 15 individual in AAC with a 76.0 scoring average. He joined Lundberg on the all-tournament team at the East Tennessee Collegiate had three rounds under par this fall.
Milligan will open its spring season March 6-7 at the Skyhawk Spring Invitational at the Newnan Country Club in Georgia.
