Men’s Golf finishes No. 34 in final Golfstat rankings
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (June 16, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s golf team closed the 2021-22 season with three-straight top-two team finishes to close the year as the No. 34 team in the final NAIA men’s Golfstat Team Rankings.
MILLIGAN, Tenn. (June 16, 2022) – The Milligan University men's golf team closed the 2021-22 season with three-straight top-two team finishes to close the year as the No. 34 team in the final NAIA men's Golfstat Team Rankings.
The Buffs capped their season with a runner-up finish at the NAIA Direct Qualifier/Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Spring Championship. Milligan finished ahead of No. 19 Tennessee Wesleyan and No. 10 Point at the NAIA Direct Qualifier. The second-place finish was Milligan's highest finish at the NAIA Direct Qualifier since winning the qualifier in 2013.
Dane Rheinecker collected All-AAC First Team honors after recording a 74 tournament average in his final season as a Buffs. Samuel Prater and Alvaro Huidobro each earned All-AAC Second Team honors after logging top-10 finishes at the NAIA Direct Qualifier. Seth Bible, Rheinecker, Brandon Hammond and Nick Brock each earned AAC All-Academic honors.
In total, Milligan posted top-three finishes in eight of 11 tournaments in 2021-22 and won the Nick England Memorial and the Mountain Empire Intercollegiate. The Buffs also took first in the preseason Bob Dibble Match Play Championship at Tusculum.
The Buffs are slated to return three of their top five players from 2021-22 with Jonathan Liggett, Prater and Ty Beasley expected back next fall.
