Men’s Golf shoots six-under to lead Mountain Empire Intercollegiate
ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (April 11, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s golf team fired a six-under 282 as a team and established a seven-stroke lead in the 10-team Mountain Empire Intercollegiate at the Elizabethton Golf Course on Monday.

Milligan's 282 is three strokes off the program record and puts the Buffs ahead of No. 17 Reinhardt (289) and (RV) Truett McConnell (293).
Alvaro Huidobro is tied for the tournament lead with a minus-four 68 in round one. He posted a three-under 33 on the back nine to finish the day tied with Reinhardt's Dalton Henson atop the 67-man field.
Dane Rheinecker used four birdies on the first nine holes to get as low as minus-four and finished the round tied for fourth at 71. Teammate Samuel Prater logged three birdies and 13 pars on his way to a 71 as well.
Jonathan Liggett after starting three-over in the first three holes, Jonathan Liggett went the final 15 holes with par or better to finish in eighth place with an even-par 72.
Brandon Hammond made it five Buffs in the top 10 as he logged a one-over 73 to end round one tied for ninth.
Reece Walker (77) and Reece Anderson (78) led the charge for Milligan's "B" squad.
The Mountain Empire Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow.
