Men’s Golf notches runner-up showing at Griffin Gate
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 5, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s golf team posted a second-place finish at the Midway University Eagle Invitational at Griffin Gate Golf Club on Tuesday.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 5, 2022) – The Milligan University men's golf team posted a second-place finish at the Midway University Eagle Invitational at Griffin Gate Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Buffs posted the second-lowest single round of the 11 team tournament on Tuesday as Milligan logged a day two low of 290 to finish five strokes back of host (RV) Midway, who won the tournament at 579 strokes. Milligan's team score of 584 was 16 strokes ahead of No. 19 Tennessee Wesleyan, who took third.
Alvaro Huidobro and Samuel Prater both earned all-tournament honors with top-five individual finishes. Huidobro led the Buffs for the second-consecutive tournament as he shot an even-par 70 for the second-straight day to finish at 140 strokes. Parter leapt from ninth-place after day one to fourth with a plus-one 71 to finish at 145 strokes.
Dane Rheinecker joined in with a top-10 performance at 150 strokes (73-77). Jonathan Liggett used a 75 to improve his position by five spots to finish 15th with a score of 152.
Ty Beasley improved his score by nine strokes on day to finish in the top half of the 60-player field at 157 strokes.
Milligan hosts the Empire Mountain Intercollegiate next week at the Elizabethton Golf Club.
