Men’s Golf closes fall semester 51st in Golfstat rankings

The Buffs finished fifth among Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) teams at the AAC Fall Championship Preview to close the semester. All four AAC teams ahead of the Buffs finished the fall ranked or receiving votes in the top 25.
Graduate student Dane Rheinecker leads Milligan with a 74 scoring average and ranks inside the top 200 players nationally at No. 195 overall. He earned all-tournament honors at the AAC Fall Championship Preview when he tied for fourth place at 220 strokes and finished as the second-highest individual finisher among AAC players.
Milligan captured the Nick England Memorial team title with sophomore Carter Counts taking medalist honors in a playoff and freshman Alvaro Huidobro claiming the runner-up spot. Rheinecker and junior Nick Brock joined the duo on the all-tournament team with fifth-place showings.
Milligan added a runner-up finish at the Fincastle Collegiate and were led by the individual runner-up, senior Jonathan Liggett.
At Milligan's home fall event, the East Tennessee Collegiate, the Buffs finished third among nine teams. Sophomore Ty Beasley won the event with a three-under par 141.
Milligan golf resumes its spring schedule at the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate in Pine Mountain Ga. on March 7.
