Rheinecker leads the way as Buffs finish fifth at AAC Fall Championship
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (October 19, 2021) – Milligan University senior Dane Rheinecker turned in a three-under final round to vault into the top five individually as the Buffs posted a fifth-place finish at the AAC Fall Championship at the Barnsley Gardens Resort on Tuesday.
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (October 19, 2021) – Milligan University senior Dane Rheinecker turned in a three-under final round to vault into the top five individually as the Buffs posted a fifth-place finish at the AAC Fall Championship at the Barnsley Gardens Resort on Tuesday.
Milligan's third round team score of 310 was the Buffs' best of the 54-hole tournament to finish at 939 strokes. The Buffs finished ninth out of 15 teams at the event and fifth of 10 AAC teams in the Fall Championship standings. No. 23 Dalton State took first in the event at 891 and No. 12 Point took the AAC Fall title by nine strokes at 903.
Rheinecker shot even-par on the front nine and used an eagle on par-five 12 and a pair of birdies on 17 and 18 to log a minus-three 69 in Tuesday's final round. He entered the day tied for 15th and rose 11 spots to finish tied for fourth and lead the Buffs at 220 total strokes. Rheniecker was the second-best finisher among AAC players at the event as the medalist was Tennessee Wesleyan's John Houk, who posted a minus-eigtht 208 to win the tournament by nine strokes.
Alvaro Huidobro tied for 25th in his debut at the AAC Fall Championships. He totaled 232 strokes with rounds of 77, 77 and 78.
Samuel Prater finished 41st at 239 strokes (77-81-81).
Jonathan Liggett finished 67th, Carter Counts was 71st and Ty Beasley 73rd.
Milligan men's golf resumes competition in spring 2022.
