Ty Beasley wins East Tennessee Collegiate; Men's Golf finishes third overall
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 28, 2021) – Sophomore Ty Beasley captured medalist honors and the Milligan University men’s golf team posted a third-place showing at the East Tennessee Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Johnson City Country Club.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (September 28, 2021) – Sophomore Ty Beasley captured medalist honors and the Milligan University men's golf team posted a third-place showing at the East Tennessee Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday at the Johnson City Country Club.
Beasley took home the individual title with a three-under 141 for the 36-hole tournament. He followed his 69 in round one with an even-par 72 to win the 59-man tournament by a single stroke. Beasley posted 14 pars, two birdies and two bogies in the tournament-clinching round.
Alvaro Huidobro also carded an even-par 72 on day to secure a top-10 finish. His two-day score of 145 placed the Spaniard sixth, a stroke away from All-Tournament honors.
As a team, Milligan finished third in the 11-team event with a two-day score of 597 (296-301). The Buffs were 12 strokes behind first-place Cumberlands and 11 strokes back of Walters State.
Sophomore Reece Anderson led Milligan "B" with a 153 (73-80) to tie for 21st.
Nick Brock and Carter Counts tied for 24th at 155.
Men's golf returns to action at the Links at Kahite Collegiate, hosted by Tennessee Wesleyan on Oct. 9-10.
