GRENNEVILLE, Tenn. (September 7, 2021) – The Milligan University men's and women's golf teams opened their season over the Labor Day weekend at the 2021 Bob Dibble Match Play Classic, hosted by Tusculum at the Graysburg Hills Golf Club in Chuckey.
The three-day exhibition served as a dress rehearsal ahead of the Buffs' men's and women's stroke play openers next week. Five men's teams and four women's teams from around the area met for the season-opening event. The event featured medal-match play format and the Milligan men played seven matches and 63 holes, while the women played six matches (54 holes) over the weekend.
A contingent of Milligan men's golfers had a particularly strong showing, winning each of their first six matches and halving their final match. Milligan's women finished third at the three-day event.
Both of Milligan's golf teams open official stroke play next Monday with two-day events. The men are headed to the Fincastle Collegiate, hosted by Bluefield. The women are headed to Jekyll Island for the Coastal Georgia Women's Invitational.
