Men’s golf finishes season seventh at direct qualifier
Three Buffaloes landed in the top 30, and the Milligan University men’s golf team capped the 2020-21 season with a seventh-place result at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship/NAIA Direct Qualifier Tuesday at Barnsley Gardens Resort.
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (April 20, 2021) – Three Buffaloes landed in the top 30, and the Milligan University men's golf team capped the 2020-21 season with a seventh-place result at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship/NAIA Direct Qualifier Tuesday at Barnsley Gardens Resort.
Dane Rheinecker led the Buffs after he fired rounds of 75, 79 and 78. Caleb Milligan finished with scores of 76, 76 and 82, and Samuel Prater finished with 81, 82 and 76. The trio took spots 15th, 21st and 30th, respectively. Ty Beasley finished 40th while Jonathan Liggett finished 51st.
Milligan held a share of sixth place after the first two rounds before settling in at the No. 7 spot, 15 strokes out of fifth, after round three. The Buffaloes fired team scores of 317, 318 and 316 for a total of 951.
The field featured several national top-25 teams, four of them in fact, including No. 1 Point University which won the event with an 877. Point also claimed the top two individual spots.
