Men’s golf finishes fall at Sea Island Intercollegiate
Dane Rheinecker’s 14th-place finish led the Milligan University men’s golf team Monday and Tuesday at the ninth annual Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, the team’s final event of the fall semester. The Buffs landed seventh overall behind six teams inside or near the national top 25, including two of the top three teams in the country.

(Oct. 27, 2020) – Dane Rheinecker's 14th-place finish led the Milligan University men's golf team Monday and Tuesday at the ninth annual Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational, the team's final event of the fall semester. The Buffs landed seventh overall behind six teams inside or near the national top 25, including two of the top three teams in the country.
Rheinecker carded scores of 77, 69 and 76 to finish with a three-round/54-hole total of 222. All five competing Buffs finished in the top 50, with Jonathan Liggett (75-80-77), David Lang (80-80-73) and Samuel Prater (79-76-79) all taking spots in the top 40.
Milligan (311-305-302) tallied 918 across the two-day event, which featured the 10 teams playing 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. This was only 11 strokes out of seventh and 18 strokes out of one of the six teams nationally ranked. The field included No. 1 Coastal Georgia, No. 3 Point, No. 10 USC Beaufort, No. 11 Southeastern, No. 14 Truett McConnell and St. Thomas, which is receiving votes in the latest national poll.
No. 3 Point won the tournament by 16 strokes and had the individual low scorer, with Cole Stevens shooting a 9 under par 204 (68-65-71).
Up next, Milligan will continue the season in the spring, as the Buffaloes have concluded the fall leg of their 2020-21 campaign.
