Trentler Takes Individual Crown, Milligan Men's Bowling Finishes Second at Brandon Burns Memorial
SMYRNA, Tenn. – On Sunday, Milligan University's men's bowling squad returned to the Smyrna Bowling Center for the Brandon Burns Memorial one-day tournament. The result ended up being a second-place team finish for the Milligan varsity squad, as well as a second-place finish on the JV side. Nate Trentler was the individual champ as the only bowler to tally more than 1,000 pins.
Four team games and eight baker games once again made up the format, with Milligan scoring a total of 4,463 pins in the team games and 1,508 in the baker games. Their overall total of 5,971 put them behind only Pikeville (6,113).
Trentler's 1,005 combined pins across four team games put him 42 pins clear of the second-place individual. His highest-scoring game was a 279 in the opening team game, and he also put two other games of 250 or more pins. He had an unimaginable tournament average of 251.3 pins/game, which is a program record.
Alex Evans totaled 923 pins with a high game of 263 in the final team game. He finished eighth place with that effort. Caleb Marshall placed 11th and scored 266 pins in game two to help toward his combined total of 902 pins.
Ethan Collier's 12th-place finish came via an average of 223.5 pins/game. A 245-pin game in the first team game helped him to that mark as the final finisher within the top 20 for Milligan.
Baker play included 1,508 pins for the Buffaloes, which actually was eighth out of 18 teams at the varsity level. The JV squad came in third out of 12 teams with 1,546 pins in their baker games.
The Buffs are back in action on Nov. 2-3 at Bowlero Southern in Marietta, Ga., which is a Tier 1 tournament.
