Milligan Bowling posts strong showing at USBC Sectionals
ADDISON, Ill. (March 11, 2024) - The Milligan University men's and women's bowling teams competed in the 2024 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) and Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) sectional in Addison, Ill.
ADDISON, Ill. (March 11, 2024) - The Milligan University men's and women's bowling teams competed in the 2024 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) and Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) sectional in Addison, Ill.
The three-day event was held at the Stardust Bowl in Addison, Ill, from March 8-10.
The ISC competition occurred on the first day, and Bryant Griffith made the cut to advance to the 2024 USBC National ISC. The Buford, Ga. freshman finished fifth overall to earn a spot at nationals. He tallied a six-game total of 1,381 to move on as the top eight from this sectional qualified.
The USBC National ISC is set for April 15-20 in Louisville, Ky.
On Saturday and Sunday, the men's and women's teams competed in 64 baker games to qualify for nationals as the top four teams advanced. The Milligan women bowled well but placed 10th out of 23 teams, finishing with a final tally of 11,667 - only 153 behind ninth-place Delaware State University.
Meanwhile, the men appeared on their way to moving on but finished fifth with a total of 13,027 - 96 behind fourth-placed Midland University.
Both teams will now turn their focus to the NAIA National Championships, which are set for March 21-23 in Sterling Heights, Mich.
