Nate Trentler finishes as tournament runner-up as Men’s Bowling finishes 10th at Tier 1 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic
WHITEHALL, Pa. (December 21, 2023) – The Milligan University men’s bowling team notched a 10th-place finish at the Tier 1 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic at Jordan Lanes in Pennsylvania.
WHITEHALL, Pa. (December 21, 2023) – The Milligan University men's bowling team notched a 10th-place finish at the Tier 1 Lehigh Valley Collegiate Classic at Jordan Lanes in Pennsylvania.
The tournament format included five team games on Wednesday and 20 baker games on Thursday. Through five team games on Wednesday, the Buffs sat in 11th place with 4,838 pins. Milligan finished with 8,806 total pins, less than 100 pins out of sixth place.
"We had moments of greatness today, but we weren't able to sustain it," said assistant coach Jeff Herman. "We got good play from all our players at times."
Nate Trentler led the Buffs in the team games with a runner-up individual finish to secure all-tournament honors. He rolled four games over 200 pins with a high of 279 to total 1,148 pins (229.6). He finished 13 pins shy of Belmont Abbey's Connor Breaman, the tournament champion.
Joshua Collins went over 200 twice in four games on his way to averaging 190.8 pins. Jackson McRae (185.8 average) and Ethan Collier (185.5 pins) both posted averages over 185 in four games. Alex Evans bowled a high game of 237.
The Buffs averaged 198.4 pins across 20 baker games to move up one spot in the 29-team standings on Thursday.
"We had intensity, fun and focus as a team today," said Herman. "This is the formula we want to repeat as we go forward."
Milligan returns to action in the new year at the Mid-South Conference's Lynne Jordan and Thomas Burris memorials on Jan. 20-21.
