SMYRNA, Tenn. (March 12, 2023) – The Milligan University men's bowling team finished record a 19th-palce finish in the Buffs' first-ever appearance at the ITC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals at the Smyrna Bowling Center over the weekend.
"This being the second year of the men's program, we stressed to "be better" all season," said head coach Brian Rickert. "Last year, our men's team finished near the bottom of the collegiate ranks and this year we achieved our goal of reaching the ISC Tournament (top 80 teams in all of college bowling)."
The Buffs totaled 11,660 pins in 64 bakers days for an average of 182.2 pins.
Milligan's top 16-game block came in Sunday's opening session as the Buffs cleared 3,011 pins (188.2 average). The Buffs eclipsed 200 pins five times with a high of 236 in the block.
"These men have pushed themselves all year and will only be satisfied once we reach both the USBC and NAIA National Tournament," said Rickert. "I guarantee we will be better and stronger next year as we learn and grow and over the next few years, I have no doubt we will have a chance to win a national title. I could not be more proud of this group of young men."
The men's bowling team concludes its season with Cameron Shockey travelling to the ISC Intercollegiate Singles national championship in April.
