Emily Cheesman and Jackson McRae sweep SSAC Bowler of the Week honors

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (February 21, 2023) – Milligan University freshmen bowlers Emily Cheesman and Jackson McRae swept the final regular season edition of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Bowler of the Week honors, the league office announced on Wednesday.

Cheesman and McRae were the Buffs' top individual finishers at the Tier 1 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis over the weekend.

Cheesman turned in a sixth-place individual showing in a field of over 400 bowlers. She cleared 1,307 pins for an average of 217.8 and exceeded 200 pins four times, including a high game of 255. Milligan's women went on to finish 16th of 66 teams.

McRae posted his top tournament performance of the season as he finished 76th in a field of over 500 bowlers. He paced the Buffs with a 76th-place finish with 1,221 pins (203.5 average) across six games. He logged four games with over 200 pins and a high of 235. The Buffs finished 45th out of 78 schools at the prestigious Hoosier Classic.

Cheesman is a two-time SSAC Bowler of the week and collects Milligan's fourth weekly women's award overall. McRae is the Buffs' third men's bowler to reel in weekly conference honors this season.

Milligan bowling travels to Savannah, Ga. on Friday for the first-ever SSAC conference championships this weekend.
