Hickman scores 41 in Men’s Basketball win at KCU

Milligan rises to 10-10 on the season and 10-8 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. KCU falls to 5-17, 3-15 AAC.
The score was tied at 10 through five minutes of play. Hickman made a pair of treys and Jaz Johnson added one of his own on a 15-5 run that put Milligan ahead 25-15 midway through the first half.
KCU worked back within one possession (27-24) with seven minutes left in the half before a layup by Flynn Carlson and back-to-back threes by Hickman pushed the lead back to 11 (35-24) in less than a minute of game time. The Knight crept back to 37-34 before Hickman canned another three. He added his sixth three of the half in the closing seconds to give the Buffs a 45-37 halftime edge.
KCU drew within five (50-45) early in the second half but the Buffs scored the next 12 points, six of them coming via Hickman threes. The Buffs' lead swelled to 20 (72-52) on a three-point play by Follie Bogan with 13 minutes left in regulation.
The Buffs led by double-digits until the final minute of regulation.
Hickman's 41 points are the eighth-most in a single game in program history. It is the highest single-game scoring performance since Mickey Woods dropped 45 against Berea in 2013. His nine threes are the second-most by a Buff in a single game in team history.
Hickman made 13-of-20 shots from the field, nine-of-14 from three and six-of-nine from the foul line.
Bogan had 13 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Carlson had 12 points and four rebounds.
Milligan hosts Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday evening.
