Men's Basketball bounces back with 90-75 win over KCU

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (January 17, 2023) – Milligan University men's basketball put up their second-highest scoring game of the season to cruise to victory over Kentucky Christian, 90-75.
The Buffs snapped a four-game skid to move to 6-12 on the year and 6-9 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) games. The Knights fell to 4-16, 4-12 AAC.
Milligan started off hot as the Buffs scored the first 11 points of the night as Dylan Bartley and Sam Gold drained threes and Julian Wilson converted a three-point play. Milligan scored the first percent in the opening four minutes, resulting in a 15-7 lead. The Knights defense showed some fight after this, holding the buffs to a pair of baskets the next eight minutes of play. The defensive performance helped KCU go on a 10-4 run, resulting in the first tie of the game, 21-21.
The Knights grabbed their first lead, 28-27, with three minutes left in the half. A three pointer by Bartley and a tough layup through contact by Drew Greene gave the lead back to the Buffs for the remainder of the half. Milligan walked into the locker room with a 38-30 lead.
The Buffs extended their lead to 54-40 through five minutes of play to open the half, giving them their largest lead up to this point. The Buffs went on to lead by as many as 20 points and came away with 80-75 win.
Five Buffs ended in double figures. Wilson led the way with 18, followed by Gold with 17, Matthew Roberts 14, and Sami Sanad and Bartley with 10 each. The team shot 47 percent from the floor and tallied 52 points in the paint. Greene finished with nine rebounds and 10 assists, leading both categories.
Milligan's home stand comes to an end against Point on Thursday evening. This matchup is set to follow the women's game and is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
