Men’s Basketball competes at Division I Austin Peay
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (November 14, 2022) – The Milligan University men’s basketball team acquitted itself well in the Buffs’ final exhibition matchup of the year against NCAA Division I Austin Peay on Monday evening. The Governors defeated the Buffs 98-74 at the Winfield Dunn Center.

Milligan had all five starters score in the opening minutes and led 11-8 going into the media timeout after a fastbreak layup by Finn McClure.
Adam Graham knocked down a three and Sami Sanad converted a pair of layups to keep the Buffs within two (20-18) at the midpoint of the first half. A dry spell for the Milligan offense allowed the Governors to build a 20-point lead late in the quarter before late threes by Eli Walls and Graham helped Milligan trim the margin to 13 (47-34) with seconds to go in the half. Austin Peay drilled a three at the buzzer to go to the half with a 50-34 edge.
The Governors pushed their lead to 21 early in the second half but a 10-2 Milligan run that included a pair of treys by Dylan Bartley prompted an Austin Peay timeout up 57-44 less than three minutes into the half.
Milligan used a five-point run of free throw sand then six points by Sanad to close the margin to 14 points (75-61) with 9:38 left in regulation. The Governors used a 13-point run to separate by 20-plus for good and collect the exhibit victory.
All 13 players who appeared for Milligan scored in the contest. Bartley led four players in double-digits with 17 points. Sam Gold had 11 points and nine rebounds, Sanad and Graham had 10 points each.
Milligan knocked down nine threes on the evening and recorded 34 bench points.
The Buffs travel to Bluefield tomorrow for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m.
