MILLIGAN, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2021) – The Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament is set to begin Saturday with the Milligan University men's basketball team hosting St. Andrews and Milligan's women heading to Columbia International. Both games are set to tip off at 2 p.m.
After a thrilling overtime victory in the season regular-finale earlier this week, Milligan (10-8 AAC) earned the No. 5 seed on the men's side. This translates into a home game for the Buffs against No. 12-seeded St. Andrews (2-12). Milligan and St. Andrews met only one time this season (Jan. 5), and the Buffaloes came away with a 95-87 win on the road behind 21 points from both David Tripp and Jackson Gabriel.
Milligan has won 16 of the last 18 meetings, including the last seven against St. Andrews.
On the women's side, the Buffs will travel to Columbia International looking to avenge an 86-77 home loss they suffered to the Rams on Nov. 19. Jaycie Jenkins led the Buffs that night with her second of four 22-point games she tallied this season. Malarie Tallent and Halie Padgett also posted double figures in scoring with 14 points and 13 points, respectively.
A win for Milligan on either side would put the Buffs into the quarterfinals of the AAC tournament, scheduled for Thursday in Kingsport, Tennessee. Milligan's men would face No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan while the women would face No. 2 Union.
