Men’s basketball falls at Truett McConnell
Two days after defeating Truett McConnell at home, the Milligan University men’s basketball team was defeated by Truett McConnell on the road, 77-67, Thursday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference action. Three Buffs registered double figures for scoring in the loss, led by Josh Thomas with 16.
CLEVELAND, Ga. (Feb. 11, 2021) – Two days after defeating Truett McConnell at home, the Milligan University men's basketball team was defeated by Truett McConnell on the road, 77-67, Thursday night in Appalachian Athletic Conference action. Three Buffs registered double figures for scoring in the loss, led by Josh Thomas with 16.
The game featured eight ties and eight lead changes, the last tie coming in the final four minutes of the game. Truett finished on a 14-4 run to secure the win.
Nearly even all the way to the finish, teams were tied 33-33 at the halftime break before Milligan went out to its largest lead of 50-45 midway through the second half. However, Truett answered with a 5-0 run to tie the game once again, and the game would remain a one-possession game until Truett's final push.
Behind Thomas, Finn McClure and Tyler Faulkenberry both scored double figures with 12 and 10, respectively. McClure also tallied team highs of six assists and six rebounds. The Buffs played without leading scorer David Tripp who miss the game due to injury.
