Buffs surge past Truett in final minute
Tyler Faulkenberry scored the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left before helping the Milligan University men’s basketball team seal the game at the free-throw line, as the Buffaloes defeated visiting Truett McConnell 67-63 Tuesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

(Feb. 9, 2021) – Tyler Faulkenberry scored the go-ahead basket with 30 seconds left before helping the Milligan University men's basketball team seal the game at the free-throw line, as the Buffaloes defeated visiting Truett McConnell 67-63 Tuesday night inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
David Tripp led the Buffs' scoring effort with 18 points, marking the 13th time in 14 games he scored 17 or more points. Josh Thomas and Finn McClure followed next with 10 points apiece.
"I'm so happy the guys found a way at the end," Head Coach Bill Robinson said. "We were able to get a stop defensively when we needed to and made our free throws down the stretch. I'm really proud of the effort."
Buffs erase late deficit for AAC win
Milligan erased a three-point lead with less than two minutes to go by scoring the game's last seven points. Jeffrey Selden started the run with a basket to cut Truett's lead to 63-62 with 1:45 left, then Faulkenberry put the Buffs on top with a basket underneath with 30 seconds left.
Ahead by one with Truett looking to take the lead in the closing seconds, the Buffs made a big stop at the other end with Levontae Knox hauling in the rebound with 10 seconds left. Faulkenberry then finished the game at the free throw line, making three of four to sandwich an offensive rebound of his only miss.
Faulkenberry's first of his last two free throws gave Milligan its largest lead of the game, 66-63, with under six seconds to go.
In the box score
After the trio of Tripp, Thomas and McClure who made it to double figures for scoring, Faulkenberry followed with nine points, including seven in the second half and five in the final 30 seconds. Jackson Gabriel came next with eight points, and Knox scored seven.
McClure added a career high nine rebounds while Knox had a career high six rebounds.
For Truett, Enocka Franky led all scorers with 24 points, going 10-for-19 from the field.

Milligan turns around quickly to face Truett again Thursday, this time on the road. It will mark the start of a three-game road stretch before the Buffaloes return home for their regular-season finale on Wednesday, March 17, against Montreat.
