MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Feb. 15, 2020) – The Milligan College men's basketball team lost a close game to No. 25 Union College, 82-75, Saturday evening inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Four Buffs scored in double figures, led by Tyler Nichols with 17.
Milligan had its last lead with under four minutes left in the first half, but the game was close the whole way. On three occasions in the final seven minutes, the Buffs had the game down to one possession. Jacob Cawood made a pair of free throws with 3:42 left to make it 67-64, but Union answered with a three on the other end and led by two possessions the rest of the way.
Milligan did have the deficit down to five in the final minute after a Bo Pless old fashioned 3-point play, but again, Union had the answer at the other end, putting the game out of reach at the free throw line.
Behind Nichols, Cawood followed with 16 points while Desean Green (15) and Pless (13) also reached double figures.
Up next, Milligan has two games left on the regular-season calendar, one on the road and one at home. The Buffs first face Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, on Wednesday before celebrating senior day versus St. Andrews next Saturday. The AAC tournament is set for Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 26-29, at MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center in Kingsport.
