Several career highs help lead Buffs over Lions
Three members of the Milligan College men’s basketball team achieved career highs as the Buffs defeated the Lions of Bryan College 84-69 Saturday afternoon inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Dec. 7, 2019) – Three members of the Milligan College men's basketball team achieved career highs as the Buffs defeated the Lions of Bryan College 84-69 Saturday afternoon inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.
Senior Bo Pless had a career and a game high of 20 points against the Lions. Pless was 6 for 9 in three point shots and 7 for 10 in field goals. Freshmen Micah Paulk and Matt Cole also had career highs for their efforts against Bryan. Paulk scored 18 points while Cole had 12 rebounds.
Jacob Cawood was the only other Buff with double digit scoring with 19 points. Pless, Cawood and Paulk all three had the highest points scored in the game with Austin Douglas having the team high for Bryan scoring 17 points.
Paulk accounted for 15 points in the first half to help with the Buffs' offensive front. He made four triples with less than four minutes left to play to help give the Buffs a nine point lead going into halftime. Milligan only trailed twice in the first half with Bryan leading at the beginning of the game and then again by one point seven minutes into the game.
Milligan came out dominant in the second half, never losing the lead the entire half. Pless scored 11 points in the second half with three triples. Cawood scored 13 points in the second half shooting 7 for 14 in field goal attempts. Milligan was ahead of Bryan by as little as five points and as many as 15 at the end.
This was the last home basketball game for the 2019 portion of the season. Up next, Milligan travels to Point University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4 p.m. The women will play before them at 2 p.m. Their next game will be Jan. 4 at 4 p.m. against Reinhardt University.
