Men’s basketball beats Allen on the road
The Milligan College men’s basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season with a 64-50 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference member Allen University Wednesday night.
COLUMBIA S.C. (Nov. 13, 2019) – The Milligan College men's basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season with a 64-50 victory over Appalachian Athletic Conference member Allen University Wednesday night.
First half
Milligan was ahead by as many as 12 points in the first half. Freshman Matt Cole led the scoring for the Buffs in the first half with 11. The Buffs were 14 for 35 for a field goal percentage of 40%, outshooting the Yellow Jackets who were 9 for 33 (27.3%).
Second half
The Buffs came out dominant in the second half, never losing the lead the entire time. A field goal with six minutes remaining in the game put the Yellow Jackets within two points (52-50) of Milligan's lead, but the Buffs went on a 12-0 run to close the game out. Senior Tyler Nichols accounted for six of Milligan's points in the last six minutes of play. He finished the night with a game high of 23 points.
By the numbers
Cole and senior Desean Green each scored 11 points apiece. Cole scored all of his points in only 11 minutes of playing time on the night. Green also added nine rebounds, with seven being defensive and had a game high of six assists. Senior Mike Featherston led the game with 13 rebounds.
The Buffs had a free throw percentage of .769 and finished the night with a field goal percentage of .424.

The Buffs will travel to Athens, Tennessee, Saturday for an AAC matchup against Tennessee Wesleyan University. The Buffs will have their next home game on Wednesday, Nov. 20, hosting AAC foe Montreat College.
