MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 10, 2021) – Elizabeth Burns became the first Buffalo to score a touchdown last weekend in the Milligan University women's flag football team's doubleheader at Xavier University of Louisiana. It came in the first quarter of the first game and marked the first-ever points for the first-year Milligan program.
Milligan played two games on the day, losing to XULA 14-6 and Midland 40-0.
Head Coach Rachel Sianez noted continued improvement for the Buffs in the first game of the day.
"I saw a lot of improvement against Xavier compared to our first game," she said. "We unfortunately got unlucky in the second half but stayed strong defensively and made some good offensive strides. The feeling around Liz's touchdown was indescribable, and I'm excited to keep this feeling moving forward."
Sianez added that the Buffs took a tough loss resulting from mistakes against Midland.
"We made a lot of little mistakes which is what added to our disadvantage, but they are all fixable things that we will be able to build and improve upon before our doubleheader this weekend. For playing back-to-back games, we played well overall and made huge strides as a program."
Milligan competes again this weekend in a doubleheader at Cottey College as the final regular-season games prior to the conference tournament.
