Buffs kick off inaugural flag football season
The Milligan University women’s flag football team began its first season Saturday at Ottawa University.
OTTAWA, Kan. (Feb. 20, 2021) – The Milligan University women's flag football team began its first season Saturday at Ottawa University.
Milligan lost by a final tally of 84-0, but Head Coach Rachel Sianez and the Buffs had several positive takeaways.
"We took a tough loss today, but I think overall we performed well," Sianez said after the game. "We are a young team when it comes to experience, but we adapted well over the game. This is a good starting point for us. We kept our mentality high the entire game even with the score, and that is all I could ask for. We look forward to improving and making adjustments over the next couple of weeks to compete at Xavier."
Starting quarterback Katherine Allan completed 10-of-26 passes for 25 yards with her primary targets Megan Kent and Ava Sorrentino catching three passes apiece. Kent also was the Buffs' leading rusher.
Up next, Milligan plays three games on the road on Saturday, March 6, facing Xavier, USM and Midland University.
