Jastrab wins ninth and 10th national titles as Cycling finishes as national runner-up at Collegiate Road Nationals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (May 7, 2023) – Megan Jastrab won her ninth and 10th national championships as the Milligan University cycling team finished as the national runner-up at the USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships on Sunday.

Milligan finished with 404 points in the Team Omnium standings, second only to national champion Colorado Mesa, who finished with 444 points.

Jastrab claimed collegiate national titles in the Women's Criterium and Women's Omnium, repeating as the national champion for both categories. She concludes her Milligan career as the most decorated student-athlete in school history with 10 individual or event national titles and an Olympic bronze medal.

In the Women's Criterium, Jastrab won every sprint and claimed gold in the 70-minute event, edging Fort Lewis's Ava Hachman for the national title. Jastrab ran away with the individual title she achieved the maximum individual score of 108 points as she won the Road Race, Criterium and all four sprints in the criterium.

Marjie Bemis finished 10th in the Women's Criterium and was 16th in the Omnium. Makayla MacPherson was 17th in the Women's Criterium and 26th in the Omnium.

In the Men's Criterium, the Buffs had three of the top 11 finishers. Artem Shmidt was fourth, Ethan Craine placed sixth and Ama Nsek crossed 11th. In the Men's Omnium, Shmidt led the Buffs with an eighth-place showing. Craine was 14th in the Omnium and Trevor August followed in 15th.

The Buffs finished the national championships with four national titles and a second place overall finish, the best finish at the varsity level for any championship discipline in program history.
