Marjie Bemis takes ninth in women’s cross country on day two of MTB College Nationals
DURANGO, Colo. (October 15, 2021) – Marjie Bemis’ ninth-place showing in the women’s cross country race highlighted day two of the Mountain Bike Collegiate Nationals at the Purgatory Ski Resort on Friday.

Bemis navigated two laps of 5.6 mile course in 1:06:56 to post snag a top-10 finish in the women's cross country varsity race. Colorado Mesa's Madigen Munro was the only woman to break one hour on the course and won the national title at 58:28, a full two-and-a-half minutes ahead of the next competitor.
Meade Plum finished 33rd in the women's cross country race at 1:05:56.
Kyle Tiesler led the way for Milligan's men in the cross country race on Friday morning with a 27th-place finish. He logged 16.8 miles over three laps in 1:42:09. Brody McDonald was 29th , Elijah Johnson took 32nd, William Seitz crossed 41st, Adin Papell was 46th and Ama Nsek finished 54th.
The dual slalom finals were originally scheduled for Friday afternoon, but snowy and muddy conditions bumped the finals to Saturday. Matthew Spong made the top 32 and will compete in the bracket tomorrow.
Seeding for the downhill races will take place tomorrow morning. The dual slalom finals and national championship races in the men's and women's short track will be decided tomorrow.
