Milligan Cycling earns podium placement in men’s and women’s Team Pursuits at Track Nationals
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 9, 2021) – The Milligan University cycling team notched podium appearances in the men's and women's Team Pursuits on the first day of the 2021 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 9, 2021) – The Milligan University cycling team notched podium appearances and bronze medals in the men's and women's Team Pursuits on the first day of the 2021 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships.
Milligan's Women's Team Pursuit quartet of Megan Jastrab, Gracie Pendleton, Marjie Bemis and Gabriella Cedillos-Dixon took third in the championship event. The Buffs completed the four kilometer pursuit in 5:19.325 to collect bronze medals. Marian took home the national championship with a mark of 5:03.201.
Milligan's Men's Team Pursuit grouping of Isaac Bryant, Erik Castillo, Brody McDonald and William Seitz made the Buffs first-ever podium in the event at Track Nationals. The Buffs completed the pursuit in 4:43.146, good for fourth place and less than two seconds out of third. Colorado Mesa captured the national title with a time of 4:28.747.
Day one of Track Nationals also included several rounds of spring qualifying. Jastrab advanced all the way through to tomorrow's semifinal round.
The USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships continue Friday and Saturday at the Major Taylor Velodrome. National championships for the Men's Individual Pursuit, Women's Time Trial and Men's and Women's Sprints will be handed out tomorrow. The Men's Time Trial, Women's Individual Pursuit and Co-Ed Team Sprint titles will be decided on Saturday.
