BECKLEY, W.Va. (April 9, 2024) - Angel Lobo collected four hits and reached base five times to fuel the Milligan University baseball offense en route to a 10-2 win at WVU Tech on Tuesday.
BECKLEY, W.Va. (April 9, 2024) - Angel Lobo collected four hits and reached base five times to fuel the Milligan University baseball offense en route to a 10-2 win at WVU Tech on Tuesday.
The win improves the Buffs to 24-14 on the year.
Lobo was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three runs scored. He walked in his other plate appearance. The left fielder nearly had half of the team's hits as Milligan outhit WVU Tech 9-8.
The Golden Bears grabbed the early advantage with a pair of runs in the second, but the Buffaloes evened the ledger in the third with run-scoring hits from Jose Paula and Vasili Kaloudis.
In the fifth, Lobo scored on a passed ball to put Milligan up. Braden Spano and Kaloudis each added sac flies to tack on two more runs for a 5-2 edge. the Buffs put an exclamation point on the game with a five-run ninth to lock up the 10-2 victory. Cade Kalehuawehe had the big hit of the rally with a two-run single.
Spano, Kaloudis, and Kalehuawehe each finished with two RBI.
Six Milligan pitchers combined to strike out 12 batters. Jacob Bishop was the most effective hurler on the day as he tossed two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
Milligan returns home on Friday and Saturday to host Columbia International in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play. Friday's game is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch, while Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
