MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 27, 2024) - A pair of three-run rallies was more than enough to propel Milligan University baseball past visiting WVU Tech on Wednesday.
Milligan outhit WVU Tech 8-5 with a trio of Buffs collecting two hits apiece.
Angel Lobo drove in a total of four runs in going 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a home run, while Jose Paula went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Andrew Beavers scored twice as he went 2-for-3 with a double.
WVU Tech grabbed the early advantage, pushing a run across in the top of the third. However, Milligan countered with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the inning. Caleb Berry singled in a run to tie the game at 1-all, and Paula followed with a two-run single for a 3-1 advantage.
Logo extended the margin to 6-1 in the fourth with a three-run home run to center field. He added a fourth RBI in the eighth when he grounded out to short, allowing Beavers to score.
Five Buffalo hurlers combined to get the win, allowing five hits and one earned run. Joe Ducharme picked up the win as he gave up one run on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts in four innings of work.
The win improves the Buffaloes to 21-10 overall.
Milligan hosts Tennessee Wesleyan in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play on Friday and Saturday. The teams will play a single, nine-inning game on Friday at 4 pm. Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
