Baseball Receives Votes in Latest NAIA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 13, 2024) - The Milligan University baseball is off to a strong start to the 2024 season and is now receiving votes in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 13, 2024) - The Milligan University baseball is off to a strong start to the 2024 season and is now receiving votes in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25.
In the poll released on Wednesday, Milligan garnered 86 voting points to narrowly miss making the top 25. The Buffaloes sit one spot outside the top 25, receiving 25 points fewer than No. 25 Benedictine (Kan.).
Milligan is 16-7 overall and 6-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play.
Angel Lobo is currently fifth in the AAC in hitting with a .418 batting average, while Andrew Mathias is tied for the league lead in RBI with 31 and Jose Paula ninth with 24.
The Buffaloes lead the league in hitting with a .336 team batting average and are second in runs scored at 190.
On the mound, Anfernee Fernandez is tied with five others for most wins with four, tied for second in strikeouts (39), and 10th in ERA (3.27).
Milligan is back in action Thursday and Saturday when it hosts Pikeville in a three-game, conference series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday at 2 p.m. with a single, nine-inning game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
